A little about us.

Hello busy bees!

Firstly, thank you so much for becoming a member of The Hive, welcome to the family!

I’m first time mummy to my little ball of energy Oscar who is currently 15 months old. I’ve wanted to become a mum for as long as I can remember so when I found out about Oscar I was just over the moon!

Before I was Oscar’s mummy, I was Emily. Emily the jet setter, Emily the childcare manager, Emily the skier, just Emily. I feel that sometimes when we become parents its hard for us to keep our old identity, but is that a bad thing when we have this amazing opportunity to bring life into the world? This year, one of my new years resolutions was to find myself outside of motherhood, and I hope that after co-creating The Beehive Hub, I can scratch my creativity itch in the hope that other parents in Fleet can also benefit from it.

I have worked with children for my entire adult life, starting off as a student studying for my Level 3 diploma. However, as soon as I got that qualification I flew to the USA to become a camp counsellor in Michigan! I did that for three amazing summers and honestly that experience helped me become the person I am today.

In between summers I worked as a nanny in Australia and Spain for a couple of different families. I love exploring the world you see…not something I have been able to do much since becoming a mummy.

One day I was browsing overseas work and I came across a holiday company looking for Ski nannies and before I knew it I was working for them for the next 6 years! This is where I met my lovely partner, Matt.

We moved to Fleet as a family of three back in February 2024, when Oscar was only 2 months old. I came only knowing one other mummy friend and decided pretty quickly that I needed connections to get through my maternity leave! About a month later I started a group chat with some lovely ladies I met through an app. (Adi being one of them!)

Fast forward to today, Adi and I can’t wait to bring other parents together in the hope that we can all support each other through the crazy parenting journey!

Where do I start?

I grew up in a military family and later in life started my own! I always grew up saying - nope never get with a soldier but here we are nearly 18 years married and 5 kids later! I wont say too much or his head will explode!

My crazy family consists of 4 girls, aged 15, 14 and 9 year old Identical Twins. Just when we thought we were done our little man came along. To add to the carnage we have a dog and two cats too!

I’ve worked in Shops, Hotels and Nursery’s, more recently as a 1-1 and now volunteer in the local community, putting my experiences as a Sen parent to good use!

Life has defiantly thrown it’s fair share of chaos at us since 2015. The Twins arrived early and spent a lot of time in and out of hospital that first year with follow ups over the years that followed. Then we were back again when our eldest daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. GORD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) Allergies, Feeding tubes, Selective mutism and Autism are a few of the medical conditions in our house! The list keeps growing! I learnt pretty quickly that life will throw what it wants at you, and there is nothing you can do about it! So you just learn to live a new way of life and just embrace it, one day at a time!

I hope that my lived experiences can help others going through what we have and helps to lighten that load. Your not alone, I will be a part of your village if you want me too!

I am looking forward to meeting you all and making some new memories to last a lifetime!

Much Love

Adi’s Pick

We were gifted the Fisher-Price Twinkle & Cuddle Cloud Soother and it’s honestly one of the best things! We still use it now, 15 months later, every night!

It plays a range of sounds from gentle music to soothing sounds. We use the soothing music the most, my mum even asked me to record it and send to her as she fell straight to sleep when she heard it!

The music lasts for about 20 minutes. The lights stay on for about 10 minutes before they automatically turn off.

The cloud can be customized to your needs. Take the Battery out and its washable too! We love it!

Oscar and I were gifted the Baby Bear Bedding set!

Honestly, this product is so amazing. Basically, its a sheet with a pocket to put a pillow in(which it actually comes with!!).

Oscar has always loved being cosy in bed and this has helped him achieve that whilst also being super safe for toddlers. The pillow stays in place so they can’t get under it or throw it out the cot!

Story Time.

Whoever said once your out the baby stage it gets easier - lied! Toddlers are a whole new level your defiantly not prepared for!

I had done it twice before but twins - they tag team! This earned them the nickname The Twinado’s. If you turned your back for one second the toy boxes you had just put away were back off the shelf and all over the floor. The cushions were off the sofa and they were using them to land on whilst throwing themselves onto one another.

Need a pee? Don’t even think about it! The one memory that now makes me howl (at the time it was not funny!) is cornflake gate!

The girls language was still limited at this point and one of the suggestions made to us was to start getting them to make simple choices between two things and it being in reach of them to allow them to bring it to me! Cereal was a good one to start with, BIG mistake!

In the time it took me to pee and wash my hands they had tipped the entire contents of two cereal boxes and whatever else was open and within reach in the food cupboard, all over the kitchen floor! Not only did they sit there, together eating if off the floor they also proceeded to crawl on hands and knees making tracks behind them! At one point one was even doing Snow Angels! Whilst i attempted to start cleaning they then thought it would be fun to scoop up said cereal and throw it on top of each others heads shouting “I get you!”

In a pure moment of panic I sent them to the front room whilst I attempted to clean the now smushed into a thousand pieces cornflakes. This was another mistake as I didn’t account for the fact that they were absolutely covered in dry crunched up cereal and subsequently found a trail from the kitchen to the front room, where they had then turned to the toy boxes and sofa cushions once more!

My mum used to say tidying up with children in the house was like shoveling snow when its snowing - this day never a truer word was spoken! My parents of course found the twins toddler years highly amusing whilst I grew a lot more grey hairs!

What’s on.
